Annual concert features music therapy participants
April 7, 2007
KALAMAZOO--The Music Therapy Clinic at Western Michigan University presents a free concert at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, in the Dalton Center Multimedia Room.
The 28th annual concert will feature participants of the Music Therapy Clinic programs and their student therapists. Performers represent all age groups and they have worked toward a wide variety of physical, cognitive and emotional goals. The evening marks a celebration of achievement and affirmation for the individuals, groups, families and caregivers who have participated in music therapy services throughout the semester.
The Music Therapy Clinic operates under the auspices of the WMU School of Music. Services are provided for residents of Kalamazoo and the surrounding region based on self-referral or referrals made by family members, educators or health professionals. Under the direct supervision of board-certified music therapists, undergraduate and graduate student clinicians use music-based interventions to target both musical and non-musical objectives.
