Important dates announced for start of fall semester

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University students will be welcomed to move into residence halls Monday through Friday, Aug. 27-31, with dates and times varying for different programs and buildings. Dates are also set for the start of fall semester classes, Bronco Bash and CommUniverCity Night Football.

Residence halls open

Students in Leadership Track, other selected programs

Residence halls open Monday, Aug. 27, for students participating in Leadership Track, First Year Seminar, MLK Program, ROTC, FYEE College Transition Program, Lee Honors College and Final Freshmen. Move-in is 9 a.m. to noon for Garneau, Eicher, Ackley, Hadley, Harrison/Stinson, Draper/Seidschlag and Henry halls Move-in is 2 to 5 p.m. for Harvey, Lefevre, Britton, Shilling, Burnhams, Bigelow, Hoekje and Little 3.

General Fall Welcome participants

Residence halls are open Tuesday, Aug. 28, for general Fall Welcome participants. Move-in is 9 a.m. to noon for Garneau, Eicher, Ackley, Hadley, Harrison/Stinson, Draper/Seidschlag and Henry halls Move-in is 2 to 5 p.m. for Harvey, Lefevre, Britton, Shilling, Burnhams, Bigelow, Hoekje and Little 3. Commuter students participating in Fall Welcome only should check in from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, in the Multicultural Center, Trimpe Building.

All other students

Residence halls are open for all other students to move in on Friday, Aug. 31, beginning at 9 a.m.

Academic advising day for fall semester is Friday, Aug. 31.

Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 3. WMU offices are closed.

Fall semester begins Tuesday, Sept. 4. Classes begin at 8 a.m.

The 27th annual Bronco Bash celebration is from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, on the West Campus Promenade from Haenicke Hall to the Campus Flagpoles. A free and open event, more than 400 student organizations, University departments, community members, local businesses and area restaurants participate to welcome students and the University community to another academic year.

One of the biggest annual events in West Michigan, CommUniverCity Night Football, features the WMU Broncos versus Indiana University at Waldo Stadium at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. For tickets, call toll free (888) 4-WMU-TIX or visit wmubroncos.com.
