Storyteller Odds Bodkin performs family concert

Dec. 3, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University presents "StoryBlast," a family concert that gets the audience involved and jumpstarts the imagination, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in Shaw Theatre.

Described as a "one-man vocal universe," master storyteller and musician Odds Bodkin has won the Parents' Choice Gold Award, Indie Award and Storytelling World Award for his children's recordings and picture books. His "StoryBlast" concert keeps the audience singing and clapping in rhythm with a series of four high-energy musical tales.

"Kids today need to imagine more and watch TV less," Bodkin says. "My job is to jumpstart their imaginations, to create such a stimulating entertainment for them, they can't help but imagine."

Tickets for Bodkin's "StoryBlast" at Shaw Theatre are on sale now and range from $10 to $15. They are available by calling (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858, online at millerauditorium.com, or by visiting the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office or the Epic Center Box Office in downtown Kalamazoo. Groups of 20 or more should call (269) 387-2312 for special discounts.
