Trustees approve retirements

KALAMAZOO--The retirements of three faculty members and two staff members were approved by the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees at its Feb. 15 meeting. Trustees also accepted the resignations of one faculty member.

All of the faculty members who are retiring are doing so with emeriti status. Their names, positions, years of continuous service and effective dates of retirement are: Dr. Linda M. Delene, professor of marketing, 31 years, effective Aug. 30, 2008; Joseph A. Kelemen, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, 41-1/2 years, effective Jan. 1, 2008; and Dr. Thomas F. Piatkowski, professor of computer science, 18-1/2 years, effective April 30, 2008.

The staff members retiring are: Richard Nabors, carpenter in physical plant-maintenance services, 21 years, effective June 30, 2008, and Carl A. Newton, assistant director of maintenance services energy in physical plant-utilities, 12-1/2 years, effective June 15, 2008.

The faculty member resigning is: Adelia M. Van Meter, faculty specialist II-clinical specialist in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, effective Dec. 21, 2007.
