Alumnus performs with "Mamma Mia!" at Miller

KALAMAZOO--Based on the songs of Abba, the smash hit musical "Mamma Mia!" returns to Western Michigan University's Miller Auditorium for eight shows, Feb. 26 through March 2.

Tuesday, Feb. 26 -- 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 27-- 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 28-- 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 29 -- 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 1 -- 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sunday, March 2 -- 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

WMU alumnus Chris Sargent will join the Miller Auditorium run of "Mamma Mia!" as part of the touring orchestra. A former student of Dr. Stephen Zegree, Bobby McFerrin Professor of Jazz at WMU, Sargent has been playing keyboards with the troupe for two years. He is a talented jazz pianist who has also worked on "Pirate Queen," a musical from the creators of "Les Miserables" and producers of "Riverdance."

"Mamma Mia!" is the world's No. 1 show, with more productions playing simultaneously around the globe than any other new musical. There are currently 10 productions running concurrently, with a worldwide gross of more than $1.6 billion and audiences of more than 27 million. "Mamma Mia!" is acclaimed by the Associated Press as "quite simply, a phenomenon."
