Research and creative activities recognized Friday

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University graduate students and faculty members will showcase their scholarly work Friday, April 11, in the Fetzer Center as part of the second annual WMU Celebration of Research and Creative Activities.

The free public event includes poster presentations of research from 9 to 11 a.m. in Rooms 1035, 1045 and 1055 of the Fetzer Center. Keynote addresses by two of the three 2008 Emerging Scholar award winners will be made from 11 a.m. to noon in Kirsch Auditorium. The speakers are Dr. Stephen Covell, associate professor of comparative religion, and Igor Fedotov, associate professor of music.

A private lunch for award recipients and award presentations begin at noon. Awards recognizing the outstanding graduate student poster presentations are sponsored by the Office of the President for Research and the Graduate Student Advisory Committee.

The event is sponsored by the Research Policies Council of the Faculty Senate and the Graduate Students Advisory Committee.
