Trustees hold special meeting to consider faculty contract

Sept. 23, 2008

KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 24, to consider approval of a new three-year contract with members of the University's faculty union, the WMU chapter of the American Association of University Professors.

Meeting at 2:30 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. Room on the second floor of the Bernhard Center, trustees will vote on terms negotiated over the summer and ratified Sept. 19 by a vote of the AAUP chapter membership. If approved by the board, the contract will replace a three-year pact that expired Sept. 5.

Terms of the agreement related to compensation include an across-the-board increase of 3 percent in each of the three years of the contract plus a research/scholarly/creative activities supplement each year that is based on median salary within faculty rank.
