Sept. 26, 2008
KALAMAZOO--More than 110 organizations will arrive on the Western Michigan University Campus on Thursday, Oct. 2, for Business Career Day.
The annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bernhard Center and is open to the public.
Business Career Day, which is planned and managed by Alpha Kappa Psi and the WMU Career Center at the Haworth College of Business, is designed for WMU students, alumni and members of the public interested in business careers. The fair is expected to attract more than 2,000 job seekers.
Blessen Joseph, Business Career Day director, encourages graduate as well as undergraduate students to attend.
"This is a great opportunity for all students seeking full-time jobs and internships," Joseph says.
Many employers will return Friday, October 3, to conduct first-round interviews with potential candidates. A series of programs, such as networking tips, resume critiques and practice interviews, is available to help students prepare. For more information, call the Career Center at (269) 387-2711.
According to Linda Ickes, Career Center director, the ongoing availability of these programs, as well as Business Career Day events, is the a result of ongoing participation and support from employers who actively seek to hire WMU students, including such premier partners as Amway, Coyote Logistics, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Target and Whirlpool.
"We are thankful for the commitment our partners have made to WMU business students and their support in providing career development programs, including Career Day," Ickes says.
Candidates are urged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes. Details, including a list of participating employers, is available from WMU's Career Network at www.wmich.edu/career/ or by contacting Business Career Day director Blessen Joseph at email@example.com.
