New way to help friends in trouble

Oct. 8, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Using a new, confidential online form, Western Michigan University faculty, staff and students may share their concerns about a student whose behavior is troubling and persists despite efforts to intervene.

The new form elicits answers to specific questions about the student and the situation, which helps provide a more complete picture of the reasons for concern. Information submitted goes to the associate dean of students office, where it is reviewed and next steps are determined. All information remains confidential.

The new form can be found at www.studentworld.wmich.edu/health.html in the upper right portion of the page. A valid Bronco NetID and password are needed to access the form.

Contact Suzie Nagel, associate dean of students, at suzie.nagel@wmich.edu or (269) 387-2150 with questions.

Media contact: Thom Myers, (269) 387-8400, thom.myers@wmich.edu
