French Canadian history topic of Feb. 10 event

KALAMAZOO--Dr. Marcel Martel, a widely published author on French Canadian nationalism, will speak Tuesday, Feb. 10, on the campus of Western Michigan University as part of an ongoing series of events sponsored in recognition of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec.

Note: This event has been canceled.

"French Canada: Creation and Breakup 1850-1967" is the topic of the free and open event at 6 p.m. in Room 2028 of Brown Hall. A reception will follow the lecture.

Martel is the holder of the Avie Bennett Historica Chair and is an associate professor of history at York University in Toronto.

The Annual Canadian Studies Lecture is supported by grants from the governments of Canada and Quebec and WMU's Canadian studies program.
