Partners in Dance sponsors trip to Detroit Opera House
Feb. 13, 2009
KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Partners in Dance is sponsoring a trip to see the American Ballet Theatre perform Kenneth MacMillan's "Romeo and Juliet" at the Detroit Opera House Sunday, March 15.
Seating is limited and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration and payment are required by Monday, March 2.
The cost of the trip is $110 for Partners in Dance members and $120 for non-members. The price includes orchestra seats on the main floor, round-trip motor coach transportation, and a boxed lunch and lecture en-route by Sharon Garber, associate professor of dance. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided on the way back to Kalamazoo after the performance.
"Romeo and Juliet" first brought audiences to their feet at its 1985 American Ballet Theatre premiere. With brilliant choreography by Sir Kenneth MacMillan and a sensuous, stirring score by Sergei Prokofiev, this ballet remains one of the troupe's most romantic, heart-wrenching and enduring works. The March 15 performance will feature principal dancers Xiomara Reyes and Herman Cornejo in the lead roles.
