Student fashion show benefits Komen Foundation

March 24, 2009

KALAMAZOO--"Fusion 2009" is a runway-style fashion show featuring the collections of 24 Western Michigan University student designers Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, in the Radisson Plaza in Kalamazoo. Half of the proceeds for the event will benefit local breast health outreach programs and national breast cancer research projects.

Shows begin at 8 p.m. both nights and will showcase local modeling, hair and makeup and music talents. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for VIP ticket holders and 7:30 p.m. for general admission.

The Merchandising Opportunities Design Association, a registered student organization in the WMU Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, sponsors the semiannual student fashion shows, which regularly draw capacity audiences. This year's events have been made possible by support from Ansara Restaurant Group, which donated $1,000 from its Red Robin location in Portage.

General admission tickets are $10. VIP tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. VIP tickets include reserved seating, cash bar, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a special gift. To purchase tickets in advance, write to modawmu@gmail.com.

One-half of the proceeds from the shows will go to support the Southwest Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For more information, contact modawmu@gmail.com.
