Animated film observes effects of warApril 10, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents "Waltz with Bashir," a 2009 Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, Friday through Sunday, April 17-19, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University. Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students. Many years after the First Lebanon War, an Israeli veteran interviews friends and fellow soldiers to discover the truth about the event--and himself. The result is an animated documentary that takes a painful and unflinching look at the short- and long-term effects of war. Written and directed by Ari Folman, the 2008 film is shown in Hebrew, German, English and Arabic with English subtitles. It has a run time of 90 minutes and is rated R for disturbing images, strong violence, brief nudity and graphic sexual content.
