Academic assistance unit renamedJuly 7, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Acting at its July 2 meeting, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees approved a recommendation to change the name of the unit that provides academic assistance to students. Center for Academic Success Programs is the new name of the unit that for years has been known as the Center for Academic Support Programs. The name change, effective immediately, will make it easier for students to identify the center by more accurately defining the services it provides. The Center for Academic Success Programs manages several programs designed to increase students' academic success at WMU, including the Academic Skills Center, Writing Center, Intellectual Skills Development Program, and Advocacy Office for Transfer Students and Military Affairs, among others.
