College of Education renamed
Sept. 21, 2009
KALAMAZOO--During its Sept. 17 meeting, Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees approved changing the name of the College of Education to the College of Education and Human Development.
The change was made to better reflect the diversity of programs the college provides from preparing students for roles in K-12 schools to many other programs that do not require teacher certification. Such programs include athletic training, community health education, counseling psychology, dietetics, early childhood and family relations, exercise and sport medicine, exercise science, family and consumer sciences, family studies, food service administration, human resources development, interior design, recreation, sport management, sport studies, and textile and apparel studies.
