Voter information available online
Oct. 22, 2009
KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University is again making voter information easier to find with a Web page aimed at increasing political participation among students and the general public.
Local elections are being held throughout Michigan Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The voter information page provides online answers to questions such as, "Where do I vote?" and "How do I get an absentee ballot?"
The deadline to register was Oct. 2, but many students and other first-time voters registered for the November 2008 general election. Some may not realize they do not need to register separately for each election. Voter information provided at wmich.edu/vote is from the Michigan Department of State with links to more information.
In Kalamazoo and other communities there are important proposals on the ballot. You can speed the voting process by checking your sample ballot online, discussing issues and candidates with family and friends, and deciding how you'll vote before you go to the polls.
Exercise your right and responsibility as a citizen. Vote in Michigan's Nov. 3 local elections.
