Free concert features music of MonteverdiNov. 11, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's early-music ensemble, Collegium Musicum, will perform in a free, public concert at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The 18 singers and 16 instrumentalists of Collegium Musicum are devoted to the repertory of pre-Classical music--generally anything before the career of W.A. Mozart. The ensemble performs music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras. The Nov. 17 concert, "Mostly Monteverdi: Musical Gems of the Italian Baroque," will include madrigals and ballets of Monteverdi, as well as concerti by Vivaldi and sonatas by Torelli.
