WMU bands share the Miller Auditorium stage

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's symphonic and concert bands will share the Miller Auditorium stage for a Sunday, Nov. 22, performance. More than 130 student musicians will perform in the free, public concert beginning at 3 p.m.

The two bands will collaborate to present works by Henry Purcell, John Barnes Chance and Vaughn Williams, among others. The concert also will feature a performance by the Western Brass Quintet, a resident faculty ensemble in WMU's School of Music.

Dr. Robert Spradling, director of WMU bands, leads the University Symphonic Band. Dr. John Lychner, WMU professor of music, directs the University Concert Band. Members of the Western Brass Quintet include Lin Foulk, horn; Stephen Jones, trumpet; Daniel Mattson, trombone; Deanna Swoboda, tuba; and Scott Thornburg, trumpet.
