Theatre grad makes Broadway debutDec. 14, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Just six months after graduating from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in music theatre performance, Mikey Winslow is making his Broadway debut in the hit revival of "West Side Story." Winslow began performing as Big Deal on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at New York's Palace Theatre. But it's not the first time the recent grad has performed as a pro. Winslow has worked professionally at the North Carolina Theatre, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and the Wagon Wheel Theatre. This summer, he performed as a dancer with Mark Dendy in New York. Winslow is also no stranger to "West Side Story," having performed in the famous musical while at WMU. Also while a Bronco, he performed in "Mother Courage and her Children," "Late Night Broadway 2008," "On the Town," "Pippin," "Once on this Island" and "The Wild Party." Winslow also was a member of Western Dance Project. Media contact: Mark Schwerin, (269) 387-8400, mark.schwerin@wmich.edu WMU News |
