Haitian relief is focus of Wednesday eventFeb. 22, 2010 KALAMAZOO--Recently returned from Haiti Dr. H. Kaz Soong, professor of ophthalmology at the University of Michigan, is the featured speaker for an evening of Haitian culture Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Multicultural Center in the Trimpe Building at Western Michigan University. Soong will discuss current conditions in Haiti and show images from his recent visit there. The event, which is open to the public free of charge, also includes authentic Haitian food, and music and dancing of the Caribbean. WMU's chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority is sponsoring the event and will collect donations for the Haitian Network Nonprofit Foundation and the American Red Cross.
