Kenneth B. Farrance

May 10, 2010

Kenneth B. Farrance, a former director of Western Michigan University's Miller Auditorium, died May 4 in Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was 82.

Farrance had a career as a radio engineer for several radio stations before joining the staff of Miller Auditorium as a soundman in 1967, just before the newly constructed facility opened. He retired in 1988 after having worked his way up to the position of manager in 1982.

Farrance had many self-taught talents, especially woodworking, gardening and boating. He volunteered for the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven and even built his own wooden speedboat in his garage.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Michigan Maritime Museum.
