Aug. 1, 2010
KALAMAZOO--The fourth annual WMU Community Golf Outing to foster camaraderie at Western Michigan University is set for Friday, Aug. 20.
This year's nine-hole, scramble event is being organized by the Administrative Professional Association. Registrations are due by noon Monday, Aug. 9, and are limited to the first 64 people who sign up.
The outing will take place at the Prairies, 5303 W. Main St., Kalamazoo. Check-in is from 2:45 to 3:10 p.m. Aug. 20, and the shotgun starts at 3:30 p.m.
Anyone affiliated with WMU, along with their guests, may participate as a golfer or volunteer. Volunteers are primarily needed to assist with participant check-in and judging the longest drive contests for men and women. Volunteers are eligible to win door prizes and receive free refreshments.
The fee for golfers is $43 for those who register by the deadline and $46 for those who register after the deadline. The fee will be fully refunded if the registration is canceled by noon Aug. 9.
The cost includes nine holes of golf with cart, prizes, refreshments, cash bar and gratuity. For every registration, $5 will be donated to the APA Seita Scholars Fund. Inexperienced as well as experienced golfers are encouraged to participate, but participants must bring their own clubs.
The golf outing is designed to introduce WMU colleagues to one another and build as well as strengthen personal and professional relationships. The event will conclude in the clubhouse with the presentation of awards and light refreshments.
