Upcoming lecture features environmental educator

KALAMAZOO--"Civic Ecology: Transforming Urban Places from the Ground Up" will be the topic of a free, public lecture Thursday, Nov. 11, on the campus of Western Michigan University.

Photo of Dr. Marianne Krasny.Dr. Marianne Krasny, chair of the Department of Natural Resources and director of the Civic Ecology Lab at Cornell University, will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Fetzer Center's Putney Auditorium. A reception will follow.

The event is sponsored by WMU's Environmental Studies Program and is part of the Gwen Frostic Lecture Series.

Krasny's work focuses on environmental education and social-ecological systems theory in urban and other settings, both in the United States and internationally. She also serves as chair of the North American Association for Environmental Education Research Commission.
