Nov. 5, 2010
KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University students, faculty and staff members, and retirees are invited to attend the 2010 WMU Health and Wellness Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Student Recreation Center's indoor tennis courts area.
This free campuswide event is designed to increase awareness and utilization of locally available health-related programs, organizations and resources.
Those attending the expo will be able to learn about ways of improving and maintaining their financial as well as their physical health. Nearly 50 exhibitors from the University and greater Kalamazoo area will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about health and wellness services as well as employee and retiree benefits.
Flu shots will be available at variable costs depending on individual insurance coverage. Attendees also will be able to sample healthy foods and purchase items from several local produce growers. Other vendors will be providing chiropractic screening, chair and hand massages, and tips on how to avoid sports injuries. There also will be a variety of vendor giveaways, including dental-care products.
In addition, Holtyn & Associates will be conducting health assessments and providing information about its One-to-One wellness program. WMU offers the program free to all full-time, benefits-eligible employees.
By providing an opportunity to explore campus and local providers of health and wellness services, expo organizers hope to encourage and support commitments on the part of WMU students, employees and retirees to create, improve and sustain healthy lifestyles.
Free parking for Health and Wellness Expo attendees will be available in Lot 13 next to the Student Recreation Center and in the parking ramp next to Ellsworth Hall.
