Annual Turkey Trot 5K planned

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's 47th annual Turkey Trot 5K race is open to runners, walkers and spectators of every age Saturday, Nov. 20.
The non-certified Turkey Trot course winds through the University's West Campus, with a start and finish line in the Student Recreation Center's indoor tennis courts area. Packet pickup and late registration will take place from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m., and the race will begin at 8:45 a.m.
Registration is $15 in advance and $20 on race day. Online registration closes at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.
T-shirts and awards
All runners will receive a T-shirt and will be timed using chip technology provided by Great Lakes ChampionChip. Prizes will be awarded for both men and women in five-year age categories, as well as 14 and under and 60 and over.
Results will be posted online at greatlakeschampionchip.com.
Participants are encouraged to bring canned-good donations to benefit Loaves and Fishes of Kalamazoo. Last year, participants contributed more than 800 pounds of food.
