Top athletic directors were chosen in four geographic regions for each of seven divisions and subdivisions in intercollegiate athletics. Beauregard was selected as the year's top athletic director in the Central Region for the Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly Division IA. The region includes Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
When Beauregard was named WMU's director of intercollegiate athletics in 1997, she was already an 18-year veteran of Bronco athletics, serving nine seasons as gymnastics coach—winning MAC Coach of the Year—and nine years in athletic administration. She was the third woman to be named an athletic director in the Mid-American Conference and the first at WMU.
This past year, the Broncos continued their history of achievement under Beauregard's leadership in both athletics and academics.
Beauregard and other recipients will be recognized June 18 at the athletic director's association national convention in Orlando, Fla.
