Flags lowered Friday for fallen Detroit police officer Charles Armour

LANSING, Mich.--By order of Gov. Rick Snyder, U.S. flags on all campuses of Western Michigan University and throughout Michigan will be lowered Friday, June 17, in honor of a 17-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department who died after being hit by a car.

Charles Armour, age 44, of Detroit, was struck by a vehicle in the line of duty on June 5. He died Saturday, June 11, from injuries sustained in the accident.

Visitation for Armour is being held until 9 p.m. today at Swanson Funeral Home in Detroit. His funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple, also in Detroit.
