Annual Leadership Colloquium scheduled

Update--So as not to conflict with an important religious holiday, the 2011 Leadership Colloquium and Poster Session, previously scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, has been canceled. KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University will hold its 2011 Leadership Colloquium from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in Room 1040 of the Fetzer Center.

The annual event gives students as well as faculty and staff members at all levels an opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversation about the importance of visionary leadership on campus, in the larger community and in Michigan as a whole.

It features a panel of local leaders discussing seminal moments in the development of their leadership skills, how they foster leadership in others and what they see as key factors in becoming a good leader.

  • Kathy B. Beauregard, WMU director of athletics
  • Brenda L. Hunt, president of the Battle Creek Community Foundation
  • Dale Nesbary, president of Muskegon Community College
  • John Wheeler, a partner with Grand Rapids-based Orion Construction

The Leadership Colloquium is sponsored by the University's Office of Faculty Development.
