Music, food and fun part of downtown Boiling Pot festival

KALAMAZOO--Local, regional and national music is the focus of an event in downtown Kalamazoo Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 29-Oct. 1, at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place.

The Boiling Pot Oktoberfest includes two stages of music and entertainment beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at noon Saturday, and ending at 11:30 p.m. every night. Bands include Murder by Death, Legendary Shack Shakers and many more. A complete schedule and information on the of bands performing is available online.

Local artwork with an astronomical theme will be on display, and each of the two stages will be adorned with various lunar and solar themed decorations.

Food, vintage clothing and crafts will be sold and more than 20 beers from Michigan and around the world complete the event's offerings.

Tickets are $12 per day and available at the gate or at boilingpotfest.com.

The festival features environmentally friendly products such as compostable beer cups and recycling services. Sponsored by the I.D.E.A. Association and Kalamazoo Coffee Co., the festival partnered with Western Michigan University's Office of Sustainability to create a sustainability plan for the site. Live updates of waste diversion will be available at the festival as part of an interactive display, the Junk Report.
