A PTF Out-of-State/Non-Resident Scholarship is a financial award designed to assist a student not residing in the state of Michigan during her/his first full academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) of education in the Paper Science and Paper Engineering programs at WMU. This award equals the difference between Resident and Non-Resident tuition for a full-time undergraduate student (to a maximum of 16 credit hours per semester) and fees. The award is paid in two payments, half during the Fall and half during the Spring semesters of the program, assuming all eligibility requirements are satisfied. If eligibility requirements as described herein, as well as all other university requirements for enrollment and scholarship eligibility, are not satisfied, the payments will not be made and the student will be responsible for all fees, costs and charges associated with his/her enrollment.

After the first academic year of study, students are not eligible for any further PTF Out-of-State/Non-Resident consideration. PTF Out-of-State/Non-Resident student recipients may apply for ‘In-State’ residency during their second year of study. PTF Out-of-State/Non-Resident student recipients may acquire ‘In-State’ residency by meeting the requirements issued by the WMU Office of Business and Finance. PTF Out of State/Non-Resident Scholarship recipients are encouraged to establish Michigan residency in accordance with university requirements.  Those requirements for obtaining residency are attached and may also be found at http://www.obf.wmich.edu/documents/docs/ResidencyApplication.pdf.

PTF Merit-based awards are available for each subsequent semester and are based on the timely receipt of the scholarship application and the student’s current GPA.
