Ethernet Switch down in Zimmerman

A network switch at Zimmerman Hall was reported to be down at around 2:30 on Monday, causing an outage to several floors of the building TCS has been notified and will replace the switch as soon as possible. --SVD Update: The switch was power cycled and active again at 4:15pm --SVD


Authentication on the dial-up network

Beginning late Wednesday evening, Western dial-up users have not been able to authenticate using the dial-up network. Technicians are aware of the issue and are currently working to fix the problem. --kw Update - 8:37a - Dial-up networking is back online, there was a problem with one of Merit's cores which resulted authentication failures. WMU also moved dial-up authentication to a different VMS cluster due to Radius problems.--SVD


Banner Database Down

At around 3:00pm on May 2, a server handling grades was reported having problems. Systems affected were grade inputs by faculty members, advisors are not able to log in for grade reports, and students may not be able to view their grades. The server was placed back online at around 3:30pm Tuesday. --SVD


College of Engineering and AS having network connectivity issues

Sections of the network within the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences have been reported as down. Technicians have been notified and are working on the problem. --CLM Update: April 26 - The system is back up, it was down from about 8 PM - 9 AM on April 25. The outage was due to an incorrect DHCP configuration. --GEF


CEAS & CHHS Network Outage Sunday

Computer networks in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and College of Health and Human Services buildings will be down from 4 to 6 a.m. Sunday, April 23, for maintenance. This will affect network connectivity and VOIP phones in the CEAS and CHHS buildings. There may be multiple interruptions of service during the maintenance. Some systems may appear to come back online temporarily. Even if a system appears to be restored, users are urged not to engage in any network activities between 4 and 6 a.m. Sunday, as that could result in lost work or files. If you experience problems after the work is complete, please contact the OIT Help Desk at (269) 387-HELP (387-4357). The Help Desk is open Sundays from noon to 10 p.m. If you call while the Help Desk is closed, please leave a message, and OIT staff will attempt to resolve the problem. -SVD
