To Receive AP Credit

Students who wish to receive course credit for AP exam scores from WMU should request that an official grade report transcript of their AP exam scores be sent to WMU. WMU’s college code is 1902. After this report is received and evaluated, students will receive notification of their credit eligibility.

To learn more about requesting official AP scores, visit College Board or call toll-free at (888) 225-5427.

AP Credit Awarding Process

If an AP grade report is received here before a student starts classes, we will send a letter indicating credit eligibility and credit will be granted after courses begin. If an AP report is received after a student has started classes at WMU, any AP credit for which the student is eligible will be posted on the transcript.

Departmental Recommendation

This notation means that a student must first meet with the corresponding department at WMU before credit can be awarded. The department will determine what specific course credit is appropriate and then direct the Admissions Office to process that award. We recommend that students contact the department as soon as they come to campus.

English Credit

As the equivalency table indicates, students who receive a score of 4 or 5 on the English Literature and Composition examination will have a choice of course credit at WMU.
