MLK G.O.L.D. Scholarship Application

The MLK G.O.L.D. Scholarship is awarded to Michigan and non-Michigan residents with an annual award amount of $8,000 (renewable up to a total of four years). To view eligibility requirements, please visit the MLK website

A paper or online application must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by January 19, 2018. Students must be admitted to WMU by the same date, so it is strongly recommended that you apply to WMU by December 15 to allow processing time.

Must attach a letter from one of the above TRiO Program Directors OR Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from a Migrant Education Program. PDF and DOC files accepted.

Please select the option that corresponds to the question addressed in your essay. (1) In what ways have you been impacted by the pre-college or migrant education program you participated in and how will you apply it to your future endeavors? (2) What degree/major are you pursing and why? How does it relate to your career aspirations? (3)Tell us about obstacle that you had to overcome. What lessons did you learn? How can they be applied to post-secondary life?
Write a one page essay, up to 500 words, single-spaced, 12-pt font that corresponds to your selection above and please attach the PDF or DOC file here.
