The senior Graphic Design students at Western Michigan University's Frostic School of Art will unveil their senior exhibition on March 19, 2012 and run through March 30, 2012. The show will be installed in the Eleanor R. and Robert A. DeVries Student Art Gallery located in the Richmond Center for Visual Arts (RCVA) at Western Michigan University.

"Justified" is a collaborative collection of accomplishments made by the Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates in Graphic Design. Groups of selected work will include posters, publication layouts, projects in new media, and three-dimensional work such as books, CD packaging, and calendars; the summation of which manifest the skills and knowledge they have acquired over the course of time spent in the design program together.

Throughout the semester the students work both as a class and in smaller more focused groups to create the conceptual framework that will be the backbone of the show, the culmination of which is present in the form of the exhibition entitled "Justified". Justified may be a way to arrange text on a page, but Justified also refers to the designer's ability to make critical decisions about visual communication. To be able to communicate a specific message on behalf of an audience the designer is required to justify every decision that is made, from the overall concept of the work to the smallest visual alignment. As designers their work is derived from the questions they ask, the decisions they weigh, and ultimately to the solutions they find.

This year's graduating class and exhibiting students include Lauryn Bertolo, Emily Bevilacqua, Michael Bruny-Groth, Alicia Bye, Antonio Costantini, Meredith Felt, Lindsay Gilbert, David Heskett, Lauren Laheta, Scott McManus, Aaron Nair, Lindsey Naylor, Melissa Phizacklea, Quintin Quaye, Zachary Ruden, Heidi Schmidt, Kevin Spiegelberg, Dimitri Theodoropolos, Sara Tomeo, and Gerardo Zamora.

The exhibition will be included in the April Art Hop Event, with the reception occurring March 23, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the RCVA student lounge (room 2107). Refreshments will be served.
