Kollig received a B.A. in psychology, studied art at City College of San Francisco, The Academy of Art, the Atelier of Thomas Leighton, and in 1996 earned an M.F.A. from Western Michigan University. Kollig's paintings and drawings have been shown in regional galleries including Water Street Gallery, The Nines Gallery and Gallery 344. Kollig's images have been published as giclees by Winn Devon Art Group, Ltd. His paintings/drawings are in private and corporate collections nationally.
