Kathleen MacQueen holds a doctoral degree from Stony Brook University in art history and criticism with a certificate in cultural studies. Her creative practice, research and writing all share the expression of contingent truths, a commitment to social and political justice and formal theoretical concerns. Her research delves into the complexities of creative practice as an intervention infused with both aesthetic philosophy and ethical commitment. She writes "Shifting Connections" an online column of contemporary art practice for BOMB and has published essays and reviews in "The Art Book," "Seachange Journal," "Art Criticism" and "Journal of Multicultural and Cross-cultural Research." Her current manuscript is entitled, "Tactical Response: Art in an Age of Terror."
