Erik Brunvand, printmaker and associate professor, School of Computing, University of Utah, has been actively engaged in arts/technology collaborations, and has been creating drawing machines for several years. At the University of Utah, he has taught collaborative drawing machine classes in the Department of Art with both art and engineering students.
Brunvand will discuss the hybrid work he has developed in computer science and drawing machines. This type of kinetic, performative drawing sculpture, from its inception in the 18th century through the 21st century, will be addressed.
