Drennen completed both his MFA degrees in Painting and Art History from Ohio University in 1991. Working in NYC after graduation he exhibited and published, receiving significant recognition in Boston, New York, Amsterdam and Beijing.
Drennen is a current Board member of the art publications, DRAIN and Art Papers, and has served as the Dean of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and as a faculty at Anderson Ranch Artist Residency program. He currently teaches Drawing and Painting at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
