Edward Harkness has been a professor in The Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University since 1980. Harness has exhibited all over Michigan, in such settings as Eastern Michigan University, Southwestern Michigan College, The Ann Arbor Art Association, galleries in Muskegon, Saugatuck and Kalamazoo, as well as at WMU. He has also exhibited at galleries in Berkeley, Calif., at the Zosaku Gallery, at Governor¹s State University in University Park, Ill., in Tuscania, Italy and various cities in Japan. Harkness has traveled to different parts of the world to exhibit, study and do research. Destinations have included Italy, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and recently Australia. Subject areas of research have been Etruscan, Roman and Medieval Italian ceramics; the Andalusian cities of Cordoba, Seville and Grenada, Spain; and Asian ceramic art. Harkness will be speaking about his sculptures generated after his latest research trip in Australia.
