Leslie LePere is an artist, illustrator, and wheat farmer living and working in Harrington, WA. He received his BFA and MFA degrees from Washington State University. Leslie has had an extensive career as an illustrator and is well known for creating the artwork on the covers and interiors of bestselling books by authors Tom Robbins, T.A. Sedlak and Peter B. Lewis. Les is also very well known for his part in the Pencil Brothers, a collaborative relationship he held with fellow artist Ken Cory from 1966 – 1986. The Pencil Brothers created narrative champlevé enamel works that challenged the abstract expressionist themes of the 60’s and helped define the American Northwestern narrative jewelry aesthetic. Les’s work from the Pencil Brothers may be found in the Racine Art Museum, LA County Museum, Tacoma Art Museum and the Boston Art Museum, among others.
