After graduating from WMU, Debbie Kenyon started her radio career in 1990. She has held diverse roles at various stations, including national sales manager for WOMC, director of sales for all CBS Radio local stations, vice president and general manager of WYCD-FM and WVMV-FM (now WDZH-FM) and is currently senior vice president and market manager of CBS Radio Detroit, which includes WOMC-FM, WYCD-FM, WDZH-FM, WXYT AM/FM and WWJ-AM.
Kenyon has received numerous awards locally and nationally. She was named one of Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Additionally, she was announced as one of the national finalists in Radio Ink’s most prestigious honors, the Radio Wayne Awards, in 2009, 2010 and 2013. Kenyon was also honored as one of Radio Ink’s Great Radio Managers in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Under Kenyon’s watch, her stations have received many awards. In 2014, WWJ-AM won a Crystal Award for Community Service. WOMC, WYCD, WWJ and WXYT-FM all recently received 2013 Michigan Association of Broadcasters Awards, including WWJ-AM receiving the MAB Station of the Year. WOMC won the 2011 Marconi Award Classic Hits Station of the Year, while WYCD was the 2012 Marconi Winner for Country Station of the Year and 2012 ACM Major Market Station of the Year.
Kenyon is currently on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as well as the Board of Directors for The Heat and Warmth Fund.
