Kevin McQuillan is co-founder of Focus Ventures and general partner of Focus Opportunity Fund. Having spent more than 30 years focusing on investments in the software, storage and Internet and communication markets, McQuillan has led Focus Ventures’ investments in numerous companies, with some notable acquisitions being PayPal, Dell and Microsoft.
McQuillan initially became involved in the investment industry as director of investments for Equitec Financial Group in 1983. From 1986 to 1994, he was general partner at Dominion Ventures. McQuillan then joined Comdisco Ventures as managing director before co-founding Focus Ventures.
Most recently, McQuillan was ranked No. 46 on Forbes magazine’s 2011 Midas list as a top technology investor. He was also highlighted on AlwaysOn’s VC 100 list and Power Players West list. Additionally, McQuillan has been featured in Venture Capitalists at Work, a book highlighting how venture capitalists identify and build billion-dollar businesses. He was also featured in The Magazine of the Golden Gate University.
McQuillan is a member of the investment committee for Western Michigan University and an advisor to the Silicon Valley Executive Network and the Fordham Foundry, The Center for Entrepreneurship at Fordham University.
