Jennifer K. Rutledge, B.B.A.’04
Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Jennifer Rutledge joined VML (Biggs|Gilmore, Inc.) in 2007 as a project manager. Today she is a group program director and a member of the Chicago-Kalamazoo leadership team. Rutledge and her team work on some of Kellogg’s most cutting-edge digital projects. The team has recently embarked on revamping Kellogg’s global modules, which provide back-end services to hundreds of websites in the Kellogg digital platform.
This summer, Rutledge visited Sydney, Australia, with VML colleagues and leaders from Kellogg for the first annual Kellogg Asia-Pac Digital Summit. She is part of a core team which will create operational synergies among the four main locations that do work for Kellogg: Sydney, Chicago, Kansas City and Kalamazoo.
Rutledge started her career at BlueGranite. One of her key projects involved building a software program to manage business operations for a hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan. Rutledge’s team implemented a biometric thumb scanner that could identify the patient and tied all patient medical records to one account so that doctors had accurate treatment history and were able to provide better care.
Rutledge has taught classes for a number of higher education institutions and companies in the area. She is a certified Project Management Professional and a member of the Western Michigan Project Management Institute. Rutledge enjoys giving back to WMU and has participated in several student development programs. Her passion extends to the local community where she has served on the Kalamazoo Area Women’s Festival board and the Girl Scouts Kalamazoo Glowing Embers Board of Directors.
