Outstanding Young Alumni Award, 2012

Aaron Vronko has always had an inquisitive streak. His curiosity served him well as he pursued a major in management and launched a business with partner and fellow alum Ben Levy. While students at WMU, Vronko and Levy decided to tear apart a broken iPod to see if they could fix it. The experiment in electronics repair, driven by sheer curiosity, turned into an enterprise – Rapid Repair is now one of the top independent iPod repair facilities in the nation and opened its second location in Portland, Ore. this year.

The company grew 50 percent within the first year. Vronko manages the growing business, overseeing day-to-day operations. He and Levy recognized a niche, and Vronko works diligently to continue to adapt the business to the market “at the speed of change” with operational shifts such as providing support via online assistance to do-it-yourselfers and expanding the firm’s device specialties.

Vronko was honored by Corp! Magazine as a 2009 Entrepreneur of Distinction in its August publication. The award recognizes entrepreneurs who have demonstrated impressive business activities, major accomplishments and innovative approaches.

Vronko has been active as an alumni speaker and volunteer at the college and participated in an alumni focus group for the college’s strategic plan. He is married to fellow Bronco, Lindsay Scott Vronko, B.S.’08, and the couple welcomed Baby Broncos Carter in 2010 and Charlotte in 2012. The couple is active in training assistance dogs for Paws with a Cause.
