Evaluating the UC- San Diego Computer Science Teaching Faculty Workshop

A team of researchers at WMU are evaluating the University of California- San Diego's “Computer Science Teaching Faculty Workshop." The primary role of the developmental evaluation is not to only to provide external perspective on the process and outcomes of the project, but to help the project team to interpret emerging findings, make improvements to the workshop and learning communities, and determine impact of the initiative.

The WMU team will collect data on the implementation and impact of the two-day “flipped” workshop and the subsequent virtual learning community developed. This includes observation of the workshops, pre/post and follow-up surveys of participants, and interviews with selected project regarding their experiences in the learning communities. Regular formative feedback and advice will be given to the project team about how to adjust project activities to be most effective.

This project is a subcontract of NSF No. 1432830 as "Collaborative Research: New Computer Science Faculty Teaching Workshop” A $128,609 subcontract award was received for the period July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2016.
