ECON 3090 - Economics of Gender and Race
This course relies on basic microeconomic theory along with relevant ideas from psychology and sociology to study the role that gender and race play in the economy and includes detailed examination of factors related to labor force status as well as marriage and fertility. Topics include an explanation of the ways that gender and race matter in economics, discrimination, diverging fertility patterns by race, explanations for race differences in wealth accumulation, and the effects of public policies on the economic status of women and race/ethnic minorities. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 2: Exploration and Discovery – Societies and Cultures Category.
