COVID-19 Outbreak Precaution

WMU Dining Precautions for Safe Food Service

Effective Saturday, March 28, Grab'n Go options from the VDC will be discontinued. Please also note the earlier closing time for dinner of 7 p.m.

Hoekje/Bigelow will serve grab'n go options from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4 – 7 p.m. During the dinner hours, a packed continental breakfast will continue to be available (so remember to pick up tomorrow's breakfast tonight).

How to practice social distancing in Dining:

  • Recognize how much space is between you and others, especially in line
  • Use the taped Xs on the floor as guides for appropriate distance between you
and others (at least 6 feet)
  • Be patient, you may be asked to wait before entering the Grab'n Go area if
    capacity has been reached inside

Please note: if given the choice, always choose to wash your hands over using hand sanitizer. Washing hands is the safer option, if possible!

Social-distancing is a key component in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Dining is transitioning to Grab'n Go service to help guests continue to receive food without getting in too close of contact with too many others, as well as reducing the numbers of shared surfaces people touch. To better understand how social distancing really can "flatten the curve" and reduce exposure to COVID-19, please review this Washington Post article for more information.
