Spring 2021-HEERF II

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding II (HEERF II) was passed by law in Dec. 2020 through The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA Act). Western Michigan University is in the process of offering grants. Students DO NOT need to apply for the HEERF II grant. 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 

According to HEERF II funding eligibility requirements, among other stipulations, a recipient must:

ROUND 1 - FAFSA Filers: 

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate student at Western Michigan University and enrolled in at least 1 credit hour in the Spring 2021 semester as of Monday, March 22, 2021 with the exclusion of the following populations: International students, DACA, guest students, SCOPE students and WMU cohort.
  • Have a 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) received by Friday, March 19, 2021 and on file at Western Michigan University. 

ROUND 2 - Non FAFSA Filers:

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate student at Western Michigan University and enrolled in at least 1 credit hour in the Spring 2021 semester as of Monday, March 22, 2021 with the exclusion of the following populations: International students, DACA, guest students, SCOPE students and WMU cohort.

REFUND PROCEDURE

Please allow 7-10 business days for processing of your grant. Once your grant has been processed, the refund procedure will begin. Refunds will disburse electronically if you have an e-refund account set-up or you will be mailed a paper check. Please note that funds will not be applied to any outstanding balance, but directly refunded to you. If you choose to make a payment to your outstanding balance, it can be made online or mailed in. Please continue to check GoWMU regarding the status of your refund.
