As a result of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 by the federal government, Western Michigan University was able to offer one-time funds to help support students during the global pandemic.
- Enrollment in at least 1 credit in Spring, Summer I or Summer II and other criteria.
- If the student graduated in Spring or Summer I, they ARE NOT eligible to receive this funding.
- If a student has a balance of $300 or more, they are encouraged to notify our office to review their options to use their HEERF III funds to assist with their balance.
Please note that these one-time funds began disbursing during the month of August 2021.
Please allow 7-10 business days for processing of your grant. Once your grant has been processed, the refund procedure will begin. Refunds will disperse electronically if you have an e-refund account set-up or you will be mailed a paper check. To sign-up for electronic refunds, please visit https://wmich.edu/accounts-receivable/refunds. Please note that some students received an email stating that funds will not be applied to any outstanding balance, but directly refunded to you. If you choose to make a payment to your outstanding balance, it can be made online or mailed in. Please continue to check goWMU regarding the status of your refund.
