Peggy Davies has over four decades of private label industry experience in executive positions. In May 2020 she succeeded Brian Sharoff as president of the Private Label Manufacturers Association.

As the leader of the organization, Davies is committed to continuing the mission of the association that was first articulated in 1979 by its founders: To promote the global store brands industry; to support efforts of member manufacturers, brokers, and suppliers with their retail and wholesale trade partners to grow store brand sales and market share, in food and non-food categories; to educate, inform, and advance the professional development of all with careers in private label; and to make store brands the consumers’ preferred brand in all channels of distribution.

Davies began her career in 1985 with Daymon Associates, and was assigned to Wegmans in Rochester, New York, where she was responsible for building the Wegman brand program from its infancy. Four years later she joined the Comstock, Michigan, Fruit-Agrilink-Birds Eye Foods, rising from director of private label to vice president.

She moved on to McCain Foods USA, Chicago, which is among the world’s leading suppliers to retail and food service of frozen potato products. From 1999 until the early 2000’s her role was vice president of store brands. For the balance of her time at McCain Food, 2008-2015, she was general manager of the ingredient business.

Davies' involvement with PLMA began at its 1989 trade show. From the early 1990s through 2015, she served on the PLMA board of directors, and in 2003 and 2004 was elected chairman of the board for two terms, the first woman to serve in that capacity.

In 2016, Davies became a full-time member of the PLMA leadership as vice president of association relations. She initiated and led numerous programs in the U.S. and internationally, while working closely with teams at headquarters in New York as well as at the PLMA International Council in the Netherlands.

In a related achievement, Davies founded in 2011 “Women Impacting Storebrand Excellence” (also known as WISE), a nonprofit professional development organization that promotes diversity and inclusion in the store brand industry. In 2020, she stepped down from her position as board chair to devote her energy and focus on her new role as president of PLMA.

Davies holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Wilkes University (Pennsylvania).
